AceReader is free to try, with some limitations. It works on all popular Windows platforms and it can be used even on modest machines. The software doesn't ask for any supplementary tools or drivers and it can be installed in under a minute.

You can use the program in reading mode or in training mode. When launched, AceReader will display a home screen from which you can go to its course mode, menu mode or to its reading mode. The course and menu modes consist of numerous reading materials. As you read, a timer will be active, to help determine your current reading speed.

When you are done reading, the application will quiz you about the text and it will rate your comprehension, based on your answers. It is worth mentioning that AceReader comes with reading materials from various fields, including American history, Earth and space science and more. Another important aspect is the fact that AceReader allows you to train at your own pace. You can set your goal, regarding your reading speed, choose a specific subject, opt for texts with different complexity levels and more.

The software's reading mode consists of a player, in which you can load your own text files, web pages and so on. The player can be set to different playback modes. For example, you can set it to display one word at a time or to highlight a group of words in whole bodies of text. You can also change the reading speed, play in manual or burst mode and more.
